Julia Gaudard
Painting, sculpture and drawing
Figures, colour and social space
Julia Gaudard works across painting, sculpture and drawing, using simplified figures, strong graphic structures and colour to explore how individuals exist in relation to one another.
Her exhibitions at Mauer Gallery show different stages of that investigation. Zusammen II moves through larger compositions and bodies in space, while Gathering turns a group of painted personalities into a social field.

Personality through repetition
In Gathering, small changes in eyes, mouths, symmetry and colour make each face read as a distinct character. Installed together, the paintings behave like a crowd rather than a sequence of isolated works.
The repetition creates structure, but the differences keep the room alive. The exhibition is direct, playful and formally controlled at the same time.
Before the crowd met
Zusammen II expands the same interest in relation and proximity through larger compositions. Figures become more spatial, and the gallery itself becomes part of how the images are read.
Seen beside Gathering, the two exhibitions show a continuous practice rather than one repeated formula: from large bodies and pairings to a compact system of faces, signs and sculptural details.

Two exhibitions, one evolving practice
Gathering and Zusammen II show different scales and different moments in Julia Gaudard’s work.
