Tino Pizza / Carte Blanche

Carte Blanche gave Tino Pizza the gallery as a world building space rather than a neutral room. Painting, sculptural characters, props, graphics and objects were mixed into an installation that felt closer to a lived visual universe than a conventional display. Humour is central, but the exhibition is also precise about surfaces, character design and the accumulation of references. The same language moves from the wall to handmade objects, furniture, packaging and absurd details. The result rewards an immediate glance and close inspection in equal measure. For Mauer Gallery, the exhibition was a clear example of a practice that resists tidy categories: urban art, character culture, installation and personal mythology operating together.
