RIOT 1394 / Warriors

Warriors brought RIOT 1394’s graphic universe into and around Mauer Gallery through painting, characters and a large mural intervention. The exhibition kept the direct energy of street work intact rather than neutralising it for a gallery context. Figures appear rough, comic, aggressive and playful at once, built through bold outlines, spray paint, saturated colour and physical surfaces. The mural became part of the identity of the exhibition and connected the gallery programme to the visual culture outside its door. Warriors also expressed a wider position at Mauer: urban art does not need to be treated as a separate category from painting or installation. The same visual language can move across wall, image and exhibition space without losing force.
